On October 14, 2022, the Three Gorges Corporation announced that the 12 # unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station successfully passed the 72 hour test run and was officially put into commercial operation. This is the 13th million kilowatt hydroelectric generating unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station.

A total of 16 units are installed on the left and right banks of Baihetan Hydropower Station. At present, the largest one million kilowatt hydro generator unit in the world is located in the right bank powerhouse of Baihetan Hydropower Station. On October 5, grid connection commissioning was started, and on October 14, all the established commissioning projects were successfully completed and formally put into production for power generation, realizing "one installation completion, one startup success, and one commissioning success".

After being put into operation, the No. 12 unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station operates safely and stably with excellent indicators. The vibration and swing values of the three bearings of the unit are about 0.05 mm and the upper guide is about 0.03 mm when the load is 1 million kilowatts.

Kang Yonglin, deputy director of Baihetan Project Construction Department of Three Gorges Corporation, said that 0.05 mm is about the width of the tip of an adult's hair. A single unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station is more than 50 meters high and weighs more than 8000 tons. Such a large unit's vibration and swing value is only the size of a hair. It can be said that our unit not only represents significant progress in equipment manufacturing, design, installation and other fields of Sinohydro, It also represents the leading position of China's hydropower in the world.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the downstream main stream of Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. It is a major national project to implement "power transmission from west to east", and is the largest hydropower project under construction in the world with the highest comprehensive difficulty. The total installed capacity of the power station is 16 million kilowatts, and the average annual power generation can reach 62.443 billion kilowatt hours. After being completed and put into operation, the power station can meet the domestic power demand of about 75 million people a year. At present, 13 million kilowatt units of Baihetan Hydropower Station have been put into operation with stable operation and excellent indicators, and the cumulative production of clean power has exceeded 46 billion kilowatt hours.

After Baihetan Hydropower Station is fully put into operation, the number of hydropower units completed and put into operation by the Three Gorges Group in the main stream of the Yangtze River will reach 110, with a total installed capacity of 71.695 million kilowatts, and it will form the world's largest clean energy corridor with six power stations, including Wudongde, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, which can effectively alleviate the power shortage in central and eastern China, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong and other provinces, and continue to serve the Yangtze Economic Belt China's economic development provides green impetus.
