1. The textbook says NO! But there are always people who want to try it on the spot.

In traditional cognition, the inverted installation of rising stem gate valve (valve stem facing down) will lead to:

Impurities accumulate at the bottom of the valve cavity → gate stuck

Uneven force on the packing → leakage soars

Foreign matter enters the valve stem thread → operating torque surges
