The displacement sensor HTD-350-6 is a commonly used sensor for steam turbines in power plants. Due to the typically harsh operating conditions of power plants, sensors are prone to damage. If the measurement data of the displacement sensor is incorrect during use, attention should be paid to determining whether the LVDT is defective or not. Yoyik suggests the following methods:
1. Check the appearance: Check the appearance of the LVDT sensor for obvious damage, such as cracks, broken wires, acid corrosion, etc. If there is obvious damage to the appearance, it is likely that the sensor needs to be repaired or replaced.
2. In-circuit testing: use a multimeter or test instrument to test the electrical contact of the sensor. By connecting appropriate cables or plugs, conducting conductivity test can determine whether the connection is normal, whether there is circuit interruption or short circuit.
3. Output test: Connect the output wire and power supply of the LVDT sensor, and test the sensor through a known measured object. Measure the output signal and verify whether its relationship with the displacement is normal.
4. Sensitivity test: Use a displacement object that knows its precise position, place it axially on the sensor and gradually move it, and observe the changes in the sensor output signal. If the output signal of the sensor does not match or is unstable with the position change of the displaced object, it may indicate a problem with the sensor.
5. Make comparison: If there is a spare LVDT sensor that is working properly, it can be compared and tested with a suspected damaged sensor. Place the same displacement object on two sensors and compare their output signals. If there is a significant difference between the suspected sensor output signal and the backup sensor, there may be a malfunction.
