The AST in the steam turbine refers to Auto Stop Trip, which is the executor of the ETS system. There are four solenoid valves AM-501-1-0148 on it. When a certain parameter of the steam turbine reaches the trip value, it releases all DEH control oil pressure to safely stop the unit in emergency.
The four AST solenoid valve AM-501-1-0148 are divided into two channels, with two valves in each channel. Each channel is independently powered by relays in the critical trip system control cabinet. The reason for designing two identical independent channels is to ensure that the system functions are not affected in case of a failure or refusal of one solenoid valve. Each channel has its own relays, power supply, and the ability to monitor all turbine trip variables.
To trip the steam turbine, both channels need to act simultaneously. In the event of an accidental trip accident, at least one AST solenoid valveAM-501-1-0148 in each channel should act in order to trip the steam turbine. Each channel can be tested separately during turbine operation without causing a trip or refusing to trip when it is actually required. During the test, the power supply to the channel is isolated, so only one channel can be tested at a time.
