Technical analysis and application practice of temperature sensor WZP2-8496 for steam turbine

Temperature Sensor WZP2-8496 is a platinum thermal resistor temperature sensor (Pt100), which uses platinum resistance elements that comply with IEC 60751 standards. The temperature measurement range covers -50℃~+500℃, and the basic error level reaches Class A (±0.15℃@0℃). Its protective tube is made of 316L stainless steel, and the surface is insulated with magnesium oxide, which can withstand mechanical vibration in the high-pressure steam environment inside the turbine (the maximum vibration resistance reaches 40m/s²).

For the high temperature and high humidity working conditions of the steam turbine, the Temperature Sensor WZP2-8496 is equipped with a double-layer sealing structure:

- The front end uses laser welding technology to achieve airtight protection

- The junction box is equipped with a silicone seal and explosion-proof gland

The effective protection level reaches IP67, which can withstand the continuous steam pressure shock of 0.6MPa.

 

Application scenarios in steam turbine systems

1. Key monitoring points

- Main steam pipe temperature monitoring (usually installed 2D in front of the regulating valve)

- Cylinder wall temperature monitoring (symmetrically arranged on the upper and lower cylinders)

- Bearing temperature monitoring (embedded installation in the bearing temperature measuring hole)

2. Signal transmission optimization

The three-wire wiring method is adopted, and it is connected to the DCS system through a compensation wire (such as KX-HA-FF), which effectively eliminates the measurement deviation caused by line resistance. The typical wiring resistance value is controlled below 0.1Ω to ensure that the temperature signal transmission error is less than 0.2℃.

By optimizing the packaging process of the temperature sensing element (ceramic substrate + vacuum sintering technology), the thermal response time τ reaches 5.8 seconds (test conditions in oil), which is 40% higher than the traditional model, and can accurately capture the temperature gradient changes in the turbine startup stage.

 

2. Anti-interference ability

In a strong electromagnetic field environment of 10kV/m, the sensor output fluctuation is less than 0.1%, meeting the requirements of IEC 61000-4-8 standard. It is especially suitable for complex electromagnetic environments with frequency converters and high-power motors.

 

Installation and maintenance points

1. Installation specifications

- The insertion depth should meet L≥15d (d is the pipe diameter)

- When installing the steam pipe, a 45° tilt angle must be maintained to avoid condensate accumulation

- Keep a minimum distance of 300mm from the power cable

 

2. Maintenance strategy

- Zero calibration every 8000 hours of operation

- Dry well furnace comparison test is recommended every 2 years

- Replace it in time when the insulation resistance value is found to be lower than 100MΩ (250VDC test)
