The phenomenon of thermal expansion of the steam turbine casing is called “cylinder expansion”. The thermal expansion sensor TD-2 is used to monitor the varying degrees of thermal expansion of steam turbine casing during temperature changes or operating conditions during startup and shutdown. The sensor consists of a linear differential transformer (LVDT) and a protective casing with mechanical scale indication installed for its protection. LVDT is used to measure the thermal expansion of the casing.
The case expansion sensor TD-2 has a connecting rod connected to the machine. When the casing expands, the connecting rod moves within the LVDT, causing a change in the LVDT signal. The measured LVDT signal will be transmitted to the signal processing circuit for amplification and filtering processing. The signal processing circuit is mainly used to enhance and optimize LVDT signals to ensure accurate measurement results. The signal is processed and transmitted to the thermal expansion monitor DF9032 MaxA for display and alarm purposes.
To protect the LVDT and measurement signal, the TD-2 expansion transducer comes with a mechanical scale indicating protective casing. This shell can prevent interference from the external environment on the sensor and provide visual display of measured values.
