The expansion displacement of the steam turbine casing in a power plant refers to the change in cylinder size caused by temperature changes during operation. This expansion displacement is crucial for ensuring the normal operation of the steam turbine and avoiding mechanical failures. The measurement of casing expansion displacement usually adopts the following methods: optical measurement method, mechanical measurement method, eddy current sensor method, etc. Today we will mainly introduce the mechanical measurement method to everyone.
The mechanical measurement method is to install specialized monitoring sensors on the casing. One end of the measuring rod of the sensor is fixed on the casing. When the casing expands, the position of the measuring device will change. By measuring this change, the expansion amount of the casing can be obtained. This method is most commonly used in thermal power plants.
The sensor used in the mechanical measurement method is the TD-2 0-50mm expansion monitoring sensor, which uses the principle of differential transformer to measure the expansion displacement of the casing. The following are the general steps to use the TD-2 expansion monitoring sensor to measure casing expansion displacement:
1. Install the sensor:
- -Install TD-2 expansion monitoring sensor at a suitable position on the steam turbine casing. Usually, sensors are installed in the center of the casing or in areas prone to expansion.
- -Ensure that the sensor is in close contact with the surface of the casing and securely fixed.
2. Connecting cables:
- -Connect the output cable of the sensor to the thermal expansion monitor DF9032 MAXA.
- -Ensure that the cable connections are correct, undamaged, and have good insulation.
3. Calibrate the sensor:
- -Before starting the measurement, calibrate the TD-2 sensor to ensure that its output signal is proportional to the actual displacement.
- -Calibration may need to be carried out under different temperature and pressure conditions to simulate actual operating conditions.
4. Configure measurement system:
- -Configure sensor parameters in the thermal expansion monitor, such as range, resolution, output format, etc.
- -Set data collection frequency and alarm threshold.
5. Real time monitoring:
- -Start the monitoring system, collect real-time sensor signals, and display the expansion displacement of the casing.
- -During the monitoring process, the operating status of the sensors should be regularly checked to ensure the accuracy of data and the normal operation of the sensors.
6. Data analysis and processing:
- -Collect and analyze monitoring data to evaluate the expansion trend and stability of cylinders.
- -By combining the material characteristics, temperature changes, and other related factors of the cylinder, the data is processed to obtain the real-time expansion displacement of the cylinder.
Through the above steps, the TD-2 expansion monitoring sensor can be effectively used to measure the expansion displacement of steam turbine cylinders in power plants, helping maintenance personnel ensure the safe operation and efficient performance of the steam turbine.
